This Profile2012 contains basic industrial and socio-economic data for the GCC region. Itis divided into six main sections, containing 86 tables, as follows:
1. SelectedEconomic and Social Indicators for 2011.
2. NationalAccount Statistics, which contain 11 tables on GDP, expenditure on GDP, Grossfixed Capital formation, along with 6 tables on government revenues andexpenditure, commercial banks credit, and loans from Development Banks and funds.
3. ForeignTrade Statistics, which contain 10 tables on total exports and importsclassified by SITC code, country, and country groups
4. Energyand Industry Statistics, subdivided into two sub-sections. One is on Energy andcontains 10 tables on oil and gas reserve, production, exports and consumption.The other section is on Industry and contains 21 tables extracted from the GIDdatabase in addition to a table on water consumption in GCC countries.
5. Populationand Labor force statistics, containing 23 tables, seven of which are aggregatedat the GCC level, while the remaining 16 are presented at country level. Datain these country-level tables cannot be aggregated because of differences instructure, coverage, time-frames, etc. These tables are based either on censusdata or on estimates of central statistical organization in country.
6. SelectedSocial Development Indicators presented in three tables.
In Addition totables, the profile contains a number of charts and graphs of facilitate quickreference, analysis and visual perception.
Data presentedare extracted from a number of computerized databases available at GOIC. Theseinclude the Sociol-Economic Database and the Gulf Industries Database (GID).These databases are regularly updated with data obtained directly from industrialfirms, or from national statistical departments of their official publications.In case, data is not available from national sources, resort I usually made toUnited Nations publications, as well as to the publications of other regionaland international organizations.
